Menstrual Hygiene Management Kit distributed by Shanti Foundation at Sindhupalchok, Nepal during the first wave of COVID.

OUR RESPONSE IN COVID OUTBREAK

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Shani Foundation delivered masks, gloves, and PPE items free of charge to the front-line workers of the pandemic.

EMERGENCY CARE: The lockdown imposed by the government restricted the movement which also created barriers to the availability of urgent care medications. Shanti Foundation has been providing critical care medications to the government upon their request.

FOOD PACKAGE: As the coronavirus is mounting in Nepal, vulnerable people are hit hardest. They are not just vulnerable to disease but also people that are left with hunger. Shanti Foundation delivers the food package at the doorstep of the pandemic most affected families.

MENSTRUAL HYGIENE MANAGEMENT KIT: In a crisis situation where only the needs of shelter, food, and security are rightly given urgent attention and the specific needs of women and girls to manage their menstruation and their health in a dignified healthy way is often overlooked. Shanti Foundation has been distributing Menstrual Hygiene Management Kit to women and girls in remote areas of Nepal.

Critical care medications handover to the Chauatara municipality, Sindhupalchok.

EDUCATION IN LIGHT OF COVID-19: School across the globe was closed to prevent the COVID-19 spread but not all children have access to the internet especially in developing countries like Nepal where only 34 percent of the total population has access to the internet. Shanti Foundation with the aim to keep children learning even during the lockdown, an education kit was delivered to children who didn’t have access to the internet.

ADDRESSING THE GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE: GBV happens in the shadow. The lockdown and the economic downturn are exacerbating the challenges vulnerable communities face, heightening women and girls' risk of gender-based violence (GBV). Shanti Foundation initiated radio and social media awareness against the GBV during pandemic and service linkage to the identified victims.
